4. This code is bad because it's also doing an authorization check (check if the user is allowed to read active directory information). The username and password can be valid, but the user not allowed to read info - and get an exception. In other words you can have a valid username&password, but still get an exception.

I removed 2 factor auth and the controller clearly can see that (it didn't ask me for the one-time password when I removed the 2 factor auth at https://account.ui.com - so it clearly connects) but still gives me "Invalid username and/or password". I also changed my password. If you check the C:\Users folder on your PC, you will see a folder which has a shorten version of your username for the Microsoft account. RDP to workstation Win 10 (on domain), invalid credentials is displayed. The domain user was previously able to RDP in. Domain creds don't work even if domain admin.
